Catherine Malandrino for Cointreau

  

French design firm Betc Design has worked with Catherine Malandrino and Conintreau, both brought to the United Stated from France. They have teamed up to create the ultimate Conintreau gift bottle. Catherine Malandrino chose the Statue of Liberty as the best thing France ever gave us, to mark this limited edition bottle. 

The design is made with metal lace and Swarvoski crystals. It is available only between October and November at Colette in Paris, and is also available online.

Student Spotlight: Kikkoman

  

New work designed and sent in by Jon Patterson, a student at the Academy of Art:

"This is a concept involving Kikkoman. The project was to design a high-priced line of products for a low-price company. With Kikkoman chosen, the line was a conceptual brand of "fusion" soy sauces, supposed to be edgy in their own form. The bottle is representative of the sauce shape in each bottle and since the sauces were dark, there was no need to show the actual product, since none were noticeably different from each other. Keeping with the image of Kikkoman, the logo was used as a spot uv around the bottle to contrast the matte and gloss/ as well as create a grip on the base. The corks on the top are unique in that they "float" in the bottle, giving a new dynamic to how corks function in bottles."

Veev

"VeeV is the World’s First Acai Spirit. Its goal is to change the way consumers think about cocktails and in the end, the way cocktails are ultimately consumed. Acai, the exotic Brazilian berry taking the world by storm, is said to be one of the healthiest fruits on the planet. VeeV is a wheat based spirit infused with Acai that includes the flavors of prickly pear and acerola cherry."

Nobleza Tequila

 "Origin designed the handcrafted packaging for Nobleza Tequila. Nobleza Tequila, Inc. was founded by Paula Torres in 2007 with the goal of providing ultra premium Nobleza Azul Tequila in three varieties (Blanco, Reposado and Anejo) to the U.S., Mexican and European markets. Her family has been producing award winning premium blue agave for the tequila industry for over five generations. In June of 2009, Nobleza Tequila, Inc. received all permits necessary to produce and distribute our Ultra Premium tequila. We are proud to be one of the only two tequila companies in existence with female founders."

Lazy Magnolia Gulf Porter

"Gulf Porter, the first in Lazy Magnolia's Brewers Choice Series, is brewed with carefully selected malts, oats and hops. Our special strain of yeast adds a unique spicy note to compliment the rich complexity and smooth character of this creation from Mississippi's Brewery. With warm notes of toffee and caramel, this Porter is sure to spark a lively discussion on the finer points of Southern living.

Half gallon growlers will be available throughout Mississippi and small, select regions of Louisiana and Alabama. There will be a limited number of kegs available from the Mississippi Coast to Jackson. It will be released in a limited quantity by mid-November 2009.

We chose the half gallon growler as the vessel because of the rich bootlegging history of the area where the brewery sits. The water there is perfect for making "Mississippi White Lightning" as the locals call the illegal moonshine."

Unreal created the identity and the packaging.

Viña Amalia

Just when you thought all wine bottle design had gone to the future comes a bit of the classical style via Viña Amalia. The family-owned Argentine vineyard has been working with Estudio Clara Ezcurra on the design of their many varieties.

The designs feature a floral pattern across the line, with disciplined serif typography and the occasional use of gold foil lettering.
