New cider brand to launch in the UK, currently only available in Cash & Carry (big cheap warehouses for those who fortunately aren't familliar with them!) Little idea with a breezy orchard, 2 types, amber and white.

Saipua Soap

New_coffee_soap_2

Saipua has been making olive oil based soap since 1999, their soaps are carefully crafted in small batches using food-grade vegetable oils, butters, herbs and extracts. Each bar is hand cut, air dried and cured in our workshop.

Their packs are simple but, in my opinion, personal and interesting: the use of a label moving around the bar suggests me an idea of something really handmade, just finished.
Also, the use of a different paper, usually a texturized one, make me think about my mom wrapping some remnants of precious materials to preserve them (she normally uses newspapers). The label completes this memory.

K2 Endurance

K2suncare

K2 Sports has recently launched a new line of sun care products designed for outdoor sports. The packaging features molded grips for use in active conditions, one handed! The desire behind the packaging was to encourage young men to become proactive in protecting their skin.

Sugart iTea Wand

Sugart_iteawand

Sugart's innovative iTea wand is a single serving tea package with a built in filter system. It is designed to just drop into hot water and brew. The filtration system allows the tea leaves' flavor carrying fats and oils to be dispersed into hot water, allowing a more intense flavor than traditional oil absorbing tea bags.

Thymes Red Cherie

Red_cherie

Minneapolis based Duffy & Partners -internationally known for their innovative packaging and brand designs, are again the creative minds behind the package design work for the newest bath & body collection from Thymes called "Red Cherie."

The design for Red Cherie evokes notes of the collections's fragrance. Sweet, flirty and a little unpredictable. Hand painted cherry blossoms brings this packaging concept to life with light wood textures behind cherry blossoms giving the delicate art a quiet depth.

Duffy has produced some very beautiful work for thymes in the past, and this is no exception.

jammy

Packagedesignpackaging3c912078104cf

Nice conserve labelling from Company. "A bespoke labellng system for a cottage industry that makes seasonal jams, marmalades and chutneys. We created a label for each ingredient (defined by the ingredient colour) and months of the year, to reflect the fact that recipes and ingredients change with the seasons." I like the way they look like fridge magnet type.

Nestea Gets a Makeover

Nesteanew_2

Nestea is a well-established 50 year old brand of iced tea owned by Coca Cola. Since it's rarely a good idea to mess with a very recognized brand, it's understandable that the new Nestea makeover wouldn't be very dramatic. Still, the subtle adjustments of a slimmer straight-walled bottle and updated graphics help distinguish the product better from the carbonated beverages these are sold alongside of. It also feels more refined - especially due to the new bottle shape. I've been noticing slimmer cylindrical shapes to be more popular lately.

I'd have to see the new bottle in refrigerator cases to get a better feel for how well the product is differentiated from sodas. From the picture above it's sort of hard to tell how big a deal this redesign really is.

Read more about the redesign here.

If you're aware of the branding/design agency who handled the redesign, please comment.

To see the old bottle shape/design, continue reading.

Burn Energy Drink

Turkeyburn

Burn Energy Drink from Coca Cola has been around for a while, but is not generally available in the U.S. This is the version that’s sold in Turkey. I was surprised by the playful type treatment for the ingredients on the back. (Here in The States, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not permit this sort of incendiary type treatment for ingredients!)

Just learned that the design is by Ergo ID. (Thanks Rob!)

(See two other novel burn packs after the jump...)

Jordans Organic Muesli

Jordmues

UK-based Jordans Cereals recently launched new packaging that has the distinction of being the first completely bio-based cereal packaging.

The new packaging is made from two films, a cellulose film from Innovia and a cornstarch-based film from Novamont.   The bag was produced by Alcan in Dublin.

The bag features graphic design centered around the concept of wholesome grains and its use of colors is important to the success of the design.

The new design was recognized last month at the 20th DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation.

Simple Seed Rice

24632_6eyl9drc_2aoaf_bxhvjt2e0w

Gulf Pacific Rice knew the ropes when it came to packaging rice, but it was treading new territory when it came to producing and packaging their own organic goods. Capsule was called upon to create the name, language, and look for the new brand, thus Simple Seed was born. The naming was followed by packaging and web-site design as well as retail, all remaining true to their new brand strategy.
